I've always been fiddling with my fingers. From sewing little toys out of felt as a kid to making wire sculptures based on characters out of the Book of Revelation as a high school student (I was and am weird, I know), my childhood was spent constructing things.

At eight, I took a beaded jewelry class and fell in love with beadwork! I'm an obsessive, and working with tiny beads spoke to me. I've been making beaded jewelry ever since, teaching myself techniques and learning new ones. I took a chainmaille class with Rebeca Mojica of Blue Buddha Boutique over three years ago, and I was hooked! Luckily enough, I started working for her a few months later, and now jewelry is my life.

I'm working on developing more chainmaille jewelry pieces (aside from the crazy, epic projects), and turning a number of my beaded designs as kits. Keep your eyes out for all the new projects.

I've taught myself a number of bead weaving techniques, peyote, brick stitch, bead embroidery, etc. I love chainmaille, and European 4-in-1 is probably my favorite chainmaille weave. I have some wire working skills, too, from working as a production assistant for a jewelry designer for two years.

If I could actually make something out of metal clay aside from a lump of dried metal clay, I would be thrilled.

Making cool big things out of lots of little things, writing about random philosophical interests, and reading about ancient mythologies.

I like chocolate and kale chips, but not together.

Vanessa, thanks for the compliment on my piece.

I bought a few different jewelry making supplies while I was in Minnesota and and I am getting ideas to make pieces with those turquoise chips.

I will see what I come up with! :)

Take care

Thanks for the lead on the book series--I'm always on the look out for good books.  As I mentioned in my other comment, I will definitely add you to my mailing list.  This year I plan on putting out patterns for some of my beaded designs (my current website is gianessadesigns.com, but many changes are happening this year!).

In any case, thanks for your comments, and to answer your question--the beaded collar took over 100 hours to complete.

Vanessa you should look at my "Waterfall" beaded Necklace Set, it also took over 100 hours! Virginia

If you decide to sell the pattern or a kit, for the phoenix, please include me in your list! Currently I am trying to work on a Suzanne Cooper design called Pueblo Story Teller! It will be my first pattern piece when I am done with it! (It may take awhile yet!)

P.S. If your a reader may I suggest the Diane Gabaldon Series, It may seem a little dry at first, but once you into the book it really is a very good story line! There are 7 or 8 books altogether, I believe it starts out as "Outlander" and then takes off from there! Its both historical fact and myth! Beadbug
